I rode the Durango to Silverton narrow gauge train "photo" tour October of 2022. I rode the Cumbres-Toltec narrow gauge in October of 2023. The trains stopped several time for us photographers to get out of the train & take photos. It was strenuous but fun. We had to set up fast on each stop.  Here are images of the ol' 476 (Durango) & the 463 (Cumbres) powering down the lines!   Please click the YouTube icon at the bottom of this page to watch You Tube videos of the Durango & the Cumbres adventures.

Here's the Cumbres comin' at us photo folks.  I love the gold & blue contrast!

Part of the Cumbres-Toltec crew....briefly posing.

Barreling straight ahead!

Cinders were flying from this impressive beast.

Here's the Denver-Rio Grande engine 463 chugging down the line at morning's first light.  I boarded the train in Antonito, CO.

Durango-Silverton postcard!

The train had briefly stopped on a bridge overlooking the Animas River.  I hustled back to an open view railroad car and shot this moments before the train plowed ahead.  I count myself as in the right place at the right time.

The first early morning photo opp for the Cumbres-Toltec train.  Chilly temperatures gradually warmed up on this October 2023 adventure!

Durango-Silverton narrow gauge blowin' side-steam!

Not to be outdone, the Cumbres-Toltec lets off its steam!

Durango blowing by us who were perched above the train for this shot.
